Dear Student, Parent or Guardian,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to Aliquippa Elementary School. I graduated from Ambridge Area High School and continued my education at the University of Pittsburgh, where I received degrees in both History and Elementary Education. I recently completed graduate work at Geneva College in Special Education and currently hold a certificate in that discipline. I have taught 5th grade at Aliquippa for the past seven years and taught 6th grade for six years prior. I will be your child’s homeroom teacher as well as his or her Science, Math, Reading and Language Arts instructor.
This year will prove to be both rewarding and challenging as 5th grade is typically a year of significant social and academic growth. Students will be members of a classroom community in which they will be expected to make a positive contribution within the parameters of a respectful and encouraging environment.
In order to make the transition to 5th grade less stressful it is imperative that lines of communication remain open between parent, teacher and child. To facilitate this communication, students will be provided with a planner that they will be required to use. Inside the planner pertinent information such as homework assignments, test dates, and personal notes concerning classroom performance can be found. This is also a convenient place for parents/guardians to write me a note if they wish. Please make it part of your routine to check the planner on a daily basis.
If questions or concerns should arise please feel free to email me at [email protected] (preferred) or call me at 724-857-7550 ext. 303 (not as reliable). I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year with your child.
Thank You,
Mr. Signorelli
