Statistics show that significant population changes will be occurring in Beaver County over the next ten years that will significantly impact its schools. To give students a voice, leaders want to hear from recent graduates to help improve educational opportunities for future students. Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14

What is Strengthening Families 10-14?
This FREE 7-week program allows families to build on their unique strengths and values through open discussions, games, and family crafts. It teaches parents how to balance showing love and setting limits. It teaches youth about goal setting, peer pressure resistance skills, and more! Topics include: Challenges with chores - Homework vs. playtime - New youth independence (i.e. going to the mall or movie theater without parental supervision)

Prizes each week!       Free dinner each week!        Childcare for younger siblings!

What Strengthening Families 10-14 is not:
This program is not therapy.
This program is not counseling.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the Aliquippa School District Board of Education approved the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction for the 2020-2021 school year (Tuesday, November 10, 2020 - Thursday, January 28, 2021) to remain virtual. This plan is subject to review and change as needed.

Free Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner


Starting Monday, October 5, ALL CHILDREN 18 & UNDER may pick-up a FREE breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Meal distribution will take place  Monday through Thursday of each week. See the attached flyer for times.

Positive Steps Wellness Center is open at Aliquippa School District. Contact Vanessa at 724-857-7500 (Ext:4164) to schedule an intake for therapy or a therapy session (If you are already an existing client). Students can come in for face to face sessions. Let’s talk about how you are feeling.

We have a GREAT new program students can use to receive extra help.  It is called Tutor.com and it is a FREE, 24/7 tutoring program that ANY student in grades 4-12 can access.  All the students have to do is log on to the site and request help in ANY subject, even college applications, and they will be connected to a live tutor!!  Our specific site is tutor.com/quips and students will use their Google accounts to sign in.

Notice of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) 2020-21

CHIP covers uninsured kids and teens up to age 19. With more than 111,000 uninsured children in Pennsylvania, this is great news for families!  CHIP provides quality, comprehensive health insurance for routine doctor visits, prescriptions, dental, eye care, eyeglasses, mental health, and much more.  CHIP covers uninsured kids who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. For most families, CHIP is free – for others, it is low cost.

Healthy Parenting Program

Established at A Child’s Place, PA Child Advocacy Center in 2017, the Healthy Parenting Program offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to participate in free, flexible, and practical parenting classes. Sessions are offered to Allegheny, Beaver, and Fayette County residents caring for children from birth to 12 years old. 
  • Aims to prevent problems in the family, school, and community before they arise while creating environments that encourage children to realize their potential.
  • Works to help raise happier children, manage misbehavior, set rules and routines to make parents and caregivers feel more confident.

Aliquippa School District and Highmark Caring Place

Aliquippa School District has partnered with Highmark Caring Place, whose core purpose is to make a difference in the lives of grieving children.  We will be working with the Caring Place to provide Grief Groups in grades K-12.  The Groups will be held during the school day with the School Counselor at your school, will meet approximately 8-10 times over the course a couple months, and will guide your child through the grief process. 

If you are interested or have questions about your child participating in this program, please contact your child’s School Counselor at 724 - 857- 7500.
