The Aliquippa School District had Beaver County Emergency Services coordinate an entire day of Active Shooter Training with District staff, the Beaver County District Attorney’s Office, the Beaver County Sheriff’s Department and the Aliquippa Police Department. The training included Active Shooter background, best practices procedures and case studies, followed by more specific instruction on sheltering, evacuation, decision making, self-defense and tactical awareness. During this same time Aliquippa Police Department received tactical response updates and training (RAIDER Training). Following the aforementioned training all of the above agencies conducted two Active Shooter full scale exercises. Personnel in attendance were in agreement that the training and exercises were successful and left everyone better prepared to respond to real life emergencies at the school district, should they occur.
